ARLINGTON, Texas — The NFL is expecting a record crowd for the first Super Bowl at $1.3 billion Cowboys Stadium.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy said Thursday an estimated total of 105,000 spectators will attend the Feb. 6 game in the suburban Dallas-Fort Worth area stadium.

McCarthy said about 95,000 fans will be in the seats and suites inside the stadium, along with about 5,000 media members and staff. Approximately 5,000 people also paid $200 apiece to be in an area outside the stadium watching on big-screen TVs.

The record of 103,985 was set in the 1980 Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Los Angeles Rams. This time, the Steelers are playing the Green Bay Packers.

A record could exceed the population of Green Bay, which is about 104,000.

I just had to share the little tidbit about the bad girl of tennis:

Venus Williams’ short dress at the Australian Open: Or is that just a long shirt?By Rick Porter

Venus Williams cruised through her first-round match at the Australian Open on Monday (Jan. 17), beating Sara Errani 6-3, 6-2. But as we’re writing about sports in a pop-culture blog, there must be something else to the story.

And that, once again, would be the choice of on-court attire for the 29-year-old Williams. For her match against Errani, she wore a super-short tennis dress that barely reached the bottom of her shorts when she was standing still and rode up to her waist while she was on the move.

The small dress/long shirt, which Williams designed herself, has made headlines since its debut on Monday. But it’s not like she was exposing herself on the court. She wore a pair of black shorts underneath, and decorum was maintained.

She did say, however, that she considered wearing a pair of nude shorts under the dress before switching to black, according to Yahoo Sports. We’re guessing that really would have gotten people talking.

What do you think of the dress?

Seahawks Won!!!

No one saw it coming.  No one predicted it would happen. The Football game of the year, if you are a Seahawk’s fan. Hasslebeck had an awesome game.  But I have to admit when the first turnover occurred I moaned. But Seahawks were not going to lay down and take a beating. Instead they team gave them hell and took out their frustration on field.
Head coach Pete Carrol deserves a lot of praise. He seems to have given these team what they needed. He makes the game fun again.  Did you see how mad he got at a bad call?  He has a temper. I kinda like that.
The game had it all,  the dream team of the Saints, last year’s champs, the underdog team, Seahawks with the worst record.  Touchdowns, sacks, the whole game was fun and intense.
Let’s see what happens next week.
